LEWISHAM AND GREENWICH NHS TRUST

Trust Clinical Fellow (ST1/2) Level

Surgery

Applicants are invited to apply for a Trust Clinical Fellow post (ST1/2 equivalent) in the department of Surgery from 2nd July 2018 until 2nd October 2018. The post would include participation in an on call rota caring for emergency and elective patients supported by registrars and consultants 24/7

University Hospital Lewisham is a busy Acute General Hospital of around 450 beds situated in South East London, which serves a local population of about 300,000. It is a teaching hospital of the Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ School of Medicine with a first class reputation for undergraduate and postgraduate training.

Study leave allowance, study budget and educational supervision would be equivalent to that of a core surgical trainee. Protected weekly educational meetings take place on both sites. We have an academic track record and there would be opportunities to enhance a portfolio with projects for publication. There would also be opportunities for day release for education or to work in our simulation centre.

Lewisham and Greenwich has busy emergency and elective departments at 2 sites. Central London is only 12 minutes away by train.

Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
