Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust are a committed multi- professional team who provide much-valued hospital and community services to residents in South East London. The Trust has built a good reputation as a place to enjoy job satisfaction and develop professional skills and experiences. Our people value the opportunity to work in a supportive culture and, we ensure our team are well rewarded for their contribution. By joining us now, you can play a role in shaping  our organisation that continues to put patient and client care first. Whatever the challenges ahead, we’re prepared to face them as one team.

We are seeking a qualified solicitor/legal executive with a significant PQE experience in the healthcare sector or an individual with extensive experience within NHS legal departments to lead the Trust’s legal team. The role will be working alongside a number of Heads of Departments and supporting the Medical and Governance Directors and Chief Nurse. The role will also lead the day to day management of the Legal services department and team.

You will be required to provide highly specialist medico-legal advice on a wide range of matters to the Trust and ensure that all clinical negligence, personal injury and other claims and inquests are managed in accordance with Civil Procedure Rules and NHS Resolution requirements. You will be required to represent and support healthcare colleagues across the Trust at inquests, therefore, a good understanding of Inquest law / procedure and previous advocacy experience is desirable but training can be provided if this is an area the preferred candidate would like to develop. You will lead on the day to day management of the team and the Trust’s relationship with its external NHSR panel solicitors.
