Band 6 Health Visitor: Full time and part time (flexible hours and condensed working hours available)

We are looking for newly qualified, or experienced innovative health visitor’s to join our newly commissioned service to work across the Lewisham borough.  


The successful candidate will be a proactive and enthusiastic individual who is looking to further develop their skills to deliver a high quality health visiting service to families. The successful applicants will also have an inspirational and motivational personality and will be highly skilled in communication, with a strong approach to teamwork, but who can also work on their own initiative.


We are the first London Trust to implement the MECSH programme and this is an exciting time to join Lewisham as we introduce new roles such as the Health Visitor Assistant Practitioner role and develop ideas to deliver a better service to families.  


Following a pilot of condensed hours it has been agreed that all staff working 30 hours or above can work condensed hours e.g. full time = 4 long days.

This is to support staff’s work life balance and the delivery of services outside traditional health visiting hours.  We will also be moving to a 7 day week service during the next 12 months so you will need to be able to work during weekends on a rota basis.


You will be delivering evidence based care and work in partnership with other agencies and children’s centre programme managers in developing a wide range of health initiatives to meet the needs of the local population.


The successful candidate will work as a member of a corporate team, with strong links to named GPs and Children Centres. You will be a role model who is supportive to fellow colleagues, team manager and the neighbourhood health visitor lead. You will be an enthusiastic individual, possessing good organisational and communication skills and have the ability as a Health Visitor to manage and motivate members of your team.


 Health Visitors working in Lewisham receive and provide regular clinical and restorative supervision as part of developing leadership skills and ensuring a quality service. We have a robust training programme to ensure that are staff are supported to deliver the Healthy Child Programme and to develop individual career pathways within Lewisham and Greenwich Trust. Bespoke training is provided to support staff to deliver a service in line with the Healthy Child Programme

A clean driving license, access to a car or alternative transport i.e. bicycle is an essential requirement of this post.
