Senior Pharmacist – Electronic Prescribing -  Cross-site at QEH and UHL – base site UHL

                              1 year fixed-term contract/secondment

Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust is undertaking an exciting project to implement Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) using Cerner Millennium across two hospital sites, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich and University Hospital in Lewisham.  The project is a joint initiative between Pharmacy and IT, being led by the Lead Pharmacist for Electronic Prescribing.

This is a unique opportunity for a dynamic individual to join the Electronic Prescribing Team and be involved in a challenging and rewarding digital transformation project that will radically change the way that healthcare professionals work in all clinical areas. Applicants should have a desire to promote new ways of working across the Trust and an interest in and enthusiasm for working with IT.

Successful candidates will work closely with multidisciplinary teams and help integrate the use of technology into clinical practice. The post holder will support the rest of the team in design, configuration, testing, training and implementation of the Electronic Prescribing system. Excellent communication skills are required as the successful applicant will become a Subject Matter Expert in the system and will be required to communicate complex information and provide training to a variety of healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses and pharmacy staff.

Previous experience of electronic prescribing would be valuable but is not essential. However, applicants should have a good understanding of the benefits of using technology to deliver health and social care.

Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust have a number of strategic developments planned in line with our Digital Roadmap. A move in to the Electronic Prescribing Team will provide an individual with the right skills and attributes the prospect of extensive personal development as well as the potential for many future career opportunities in digital transformation.
